Play Ball 4 Leon

About Mark:

Mark Leonhard was often said to be the "happiest guy on earth".  He had  an inviting smile and jovial laugh.  Life had been very good to Mark, starting with his early years at Hersey High School in Arlington  Heights, IL where he was a star athlete in 3 sports - football, basketball, and baseball.  He was a great competitor and his talent lifted the abilities of all of his teammates.

Mark continued his life successes at the University of Tulsa where he earned a scholarship to play football and baseball. Mark's outgoing personality naturally nurtured many lifelong friendships which he cherished and often talked about.

Mark's achievements also followed him into his professional life where he was honored numerous times for his outstanding sales abilities in the seal industry, most recently with the Simrit Division of Freudenberg NOK.

Mark's personal life might have been his crowning achievement. 27 years ago, Mark moved to Indianapolis and met the love of his life. He married Amy and they had 4 wonderful children, Amber (20), Charles & Brandon (19), and Morgan (14). He was so proud of his family. Despite all of his own personal accomplishments, all he could ever talk about was his family and their activities.

I wish everyone could have known Mark as well as us, because he was a true friend. Loyal, fun loving, always there when needed; admired and loved by all of his friends and family.

Sadly, we lost Mark on May 25, 2011. But he would never want us to dwell on the unhappiness, so in his honor, we are hosting an "Alumni Baseball" game(s) on August 20th at Alexian Field (Schaumburg Flyers) to bring together players and colleagues that shared the favorite sport of Mark during his past years of competing for Hersey High School, Arlington Heights Post 208 American Legion, and Tulsa University.

We hope to have as many past players, alumni, friends and families join us for this fun and inspiring day. Here's your chance to "re-live our days on the diamond" and share the good times, laughs, and memories with friends.

Mike and Pat Broderick (along w/Harvey Foster) are spearheading a memorial baseball game in Mark's honor.

More info will be coming shortly (and this site will change) BUT please check back as more info becomes available! - Gus
